In brief

What is retail media?

Retail media means a retailer sells ad space in its online shop, app, newsletter and stores to its suppliers. Brandfocus shows which spaces are suitable, builds the offer, prices and processes, and supports sales to the brands. Nicolas Bill built the retail media business at Media Markt Switzerland and leads the retailers' working group for retail media at the industry association IAB Switzerland.

When it pays off

Suppliers ask about ad space.

But there is no offer with prices.

Advertising subsidies flow with nothing in return.

The supplier pays but gets nothing it can measure.

Reach goes unused.

Your online shop, newsletter and stores reach many customers, but nobody sells these contacts.

What you get

You start with the spaces you already have.

How we measure success

Suppliers book again when they see what it delivers. That is why every campaign comes with a report.

Frequently asked questions

Is your question missing? Ask it in the first call.

At what size does retail media pay off?

What matters is not the number of stores but your reach, and whether suppliers want to reach your customers. The audit shows whether it adds up.

Do we need our own ad tech?

Not to start with. The first spaces can be sold with what you already have: newsletter, homepage, screens in store.

Who sells the spaces to suppliers?

Usually purchasing together with marketing. We provide materials and prices and support the first meetings.

How is this different from advertising subsidies?

An advertising subsidy is a supplier's contribution to your advertising. With retail media, the supplier books a specific space with a price, a run time and a report.

What does it cost?

We deliver retail media as a project. After the first call, you receive a quote at a fixed price.
